Rohrer & Klingner Black Drawing
Ink The ink flows excellently from the various drawing instruments. In its area of application, it is not only suitable for fine calligraphic work and pen drawings, but also for blasting techniques and painterly drawings. The chemical difference to the drawing inks, type 29 700, lies fundamentally in the binding agent. In the drawing inks, this consists of a shellac solution, in the drawing inks of a pure acrylate. The drawing inks should be shaken before use. For sepia and bistre, a short shake is sufficient. The black drawing ink should be stirred after standing for a long time to avoid foaming.
The drawing surface (the paper) does not require any special preparation before applying the ink.
The colors are ready to use and can be diluted with water. They can be applied to paper, cardboard and wood using a brush, pen, quill and airbrush (nozzle diameter: 0.5-0.8 mm). Highly absorbent surfaces should be primed with a primer commonly used in painting - e.g. a dispersion-based gesso - before applying gold and silver. Other surfaces such as fabric, metal or glass should be tested for adhesion and wetting before painting.
