Montval® is a paper designed by the painter Gaspard Maillol, a nephew of the sculptor Aristide Maillol. At his request, it was manufactured by Canson® in the early 1900s. Since then, the paper has gained new properties. Acid-free, age-resistant, fungicidally treated and free of any optical brighteners - a high-quality watercolor paper for practice and learning that is easy to use and ideal for refinements and corrections. On Montval®, corrections can be made by simply scratching without roughening the paper. It is suitable for all wet techniques, whether watercolor, gouache or acrylic. Thanks to the properties described, this paper can be used by everyone without any problems.
presentation
Thanks to its large dimensions (1.52 x 10 m), the roll is suitable for all situations; it can be easily trimmed to create a personalized format.
Grain
The fine-grain paper allows you to create relief effects and can be edited very precisely at the same time. The slightly grained surface structure reflects light well and thus maintains the transparency of the watercolor paints. Fine-grain paper is the easiest to work with.
Series
300 gsm is the standard grammage for paper (not too thin, not too thick). The paper is more tear-resistant than lighter types of paper. In addition, the amount of water required is easier to measure with heavier papers. This paper is therefore a well-matched option if you have not yet mastered all the subtleties of watercolor painting
