Retouching varnish
Retouching varnish can be used as a temporary varnish coat and as a temporary protection for recently completed oil paintings. Paintings should be allowed to dry for as long as possible (at least one month) before applying the retouching varnish. The retouching varnish does not need to be removed before applying a final varnish. Paintings that have been retouched must still be allowed to dry for a reasonable amount of time before applying the final varnish (at least six months for thin films, longer for thick films).
