Since pine, which we use as standard for our stretcher frames, is too soft for framing, we use what is known as meranti for square and rectangular frames instead.
Meranti wood comes from Southeast Asia and is often used for furniture production, but also for doors and windows. The variant Dark Red Meranti is characterized by similar strength properties as oak and has a good staying power. It can be worked well, such as knife and peel, glue and polish. We use this wood for larger formats over 1 meter, as it remains very stable and straight when working with it. For smaller formats up to 1 meter we use the slightly cheaper Light Red Meranti.
At the request of our customers we produce framing also from harder wood qualities like oak or beech. Our ultimate goal is to strike a balance between price and quality.
All framing is produced in our partner workshop in Poland.
